Present Perfect Continuous

The Present Perfect continuous is used to talk about an event that started in the past and is gradually developing. The time is unspecified and the action is ongoing.

 

He has been learning to read = He is still learning to read/ He is not perfect at reading yet.

 

It has been getting more difficult buy a house in London = It was easier to buy a house in London before.

 

Use ” for” with: periods or  durations of time -1 hour, two months , sixteen years.

Use ”since”  with: exact times – 11 o’clock, 22nd September, last night  , yesterday
